A Case of Acute Eosinophilic Leukemia

Abstract
Acute eosinophilic leukemia is very rare type of leukemia characterized by aneima, thrombocytopenia in peripheral blood and predominance of blasts & mature eosino¡þphilic series in bone marrow.
It occurs at any age, most frequently develops in middle age and is manifested by progressive congestive heart failure, respiratory distress, central nervous system disturbances, hepatosplenomegaly and lymphadenopathy.
We experienced a case of acute eosinophilic leukemia in 12-year-old girl who complained dizziness and nasal bleeding for 10 days PTA. Peripheral, blood findings were anemia, thrombocytopenia and high blasts on differential count. Bone marrow studies showed hypercellularity with high myeloblast count(35% of marrow nucleated cell)and eosinophilic hyperplasia. Cytochemical study revealed negative for PAS and nonspecific esterase stain and positive for peroxidase and Sudan Black B stain.
We here report a case of acute eosinophilic leukemia and review the literatures.
